Police were called to the discovery of a body in Wootton yesterday morning (Monday).
Officers descended on the scene in the vicinity of Harwoods Garage on High Street/Lushington Hill at just before 06:00.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were also called to the scene but there was nothing that could be done to save the man’s life.
A cordon was erected for a short time but was lifted by 09:30.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“Officers were called to a premises in the High Street, Wootton, at around 5.55am on Monday, May 6.
“The body of a man in his 50s was found at the premises. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the Coroner”.
