Officers investigating a burglary series in Newport and Whitcombe have charged a man.
Officers made an arrest on Friday following multiple incidents that saw homes broken into and the occupants of an address on Nunnery Lane forced to drive to a cash point to withdraw money, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Large searches involving the National Police Air Service helicopter swept areas of the countryside surrounding Whitcombe and Carisbrooke.
Kazm Saed, aged 25 years, of no fixed abode, has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated burglary, 2 counts of robbery, 2 counts of kidnap, 1 count of burglary and 2 counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7 June.
