A 50-year-old man from Sandown has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage following an incident involving Armed Police in Sandown.
As previously reported by Island Echo, armed officers were called to the Fort Street area of Sandown at around 21:30 on Tuesday with a manhunt soon launched. The suspect was eventually arrested on Golf Links Road, bringing the near 3-hour operation to an end.
James Anthony Glover, of Fort Street, has now been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) and criminal damage. The criminal damage is in connection with damage caused to a door at Shanklin & Sandown Golf Club.
No other charges have been brought against Mr Glover.
He has been remanded in custody to appear before Magistrates this morning (Thursday).
Enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding these incidents remain ongoing.
UPDATE @ 13:52 – Mr Glover has pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been given conditional bail and will return to court for the trial in June.
He has however pleaded guilty to criminal damage. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation.
