Officers from Hampshire Constabulary have made 2 arrests following a drugs raid in Ryde yesterday (Saturday).
Several units attended an address in Cross Street yesterday afternoon, where police made the discovery of a number of plants which are suspected to be cannabis.
Forensics officers were spotted at the address yesterday, along with several other police vehicles, and were present on the busy street for several hours during the afternoon and into the evening.
A 59-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man were both been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of Class B drugs.
Both people arrested have been questioned by officers and have since been released under investigation as officers make further enquiries.

We all know that nothing will be done to deter these dealers of evil. Having just had a 5:30am wake up from a young girl, off her face with something, who kicked and banged on every door on our street, and a few more on an adjacent one, not to mention kicking a few car doors, it is obvious that drugs are becoming an issue for many of us. Whether she and her mates will have any punishment is doubtful but I wonder how many other parts of the Island will have to be damaged or destroyed by this curse before something is at least tried to control the situation or do we all just shrug our shoulders and ignore it?
lQuite. This drugs curse has become a major issue on the island recently.
Myself and other residents have lost faith in the Police, after repeatedly reporting drug running in West Wight and being just being ignored. We have given up hope now, after nothing has been done for so long and commonly even see children become users.
My last hope effort is to contact my local councillor and then the MP (if you share concern over this issue – please do likewise) .-
Whilst I agree with you totally, the main issue is that until we have the same problems as certain areas on the mainland, nothing will be done. Even then, some Government body will give a couple of Million to a newly formed ‘body’ who will spend 1.75 million on premises, salaries and ‘outside help’ then employ a few councillors on minimum wage before going bankrupt and blaming the Government for not doing enough! Whilst we have individuals and groups using Drug issues as a money earner and no oversight then the solution becomes as bad as the issues.
Please don’t give up. Drug dealing is ruining people’s live, at least keep on pestering the authorities to act, be it Police, Councillors , M.P. , even Priti Patel directly.
Drugs ruin communities and generate loads of cash to fund other serious crime, and the gangs use violence to protect their income streams . These people are totally lacking in conscience and need to be locked up. Maybe ANPR cameras at every ferry terminal would help to identify vehicles of interest , and as a spin-off would pick up uninsured and untaxed vehicles and unlicensed drivers.
The courts also need to get real and start giving sentences hat will deter.
We’ve had the same experience, next door neighbours smoking the dreaded weed and it stinks in our garden. Our grandchildren won’t go in garden because of the smell. Our concern is that there is a newborn baby in the offending household plus another young child.
What a load tosh, drink is the problem, when has cannabis been evil. You should move if not happy where you live. Your decision to live there. Stop whining
It was weed you foolish normie
In there 50s some people will never grow up, then we wonder whats wrong with the kids of today…..
