A Dominos delivery rider has escaped any serious injury following a collision with a car on Coppins Bridge in Newport this lunchtime (Friday).
The incident occurred on East Street, at the junction with Pyle Street, shortly before 12:55.
Police have been in attendance and have been able to move the bike to the side of the road, minimising the impact on traffic in the area.
Island Echo is told that the motorcycle was clipped by a car travelling up East Street towards South Street, leading to the collision with the car at the Pyle Street junction.

Hope the motorcyclist is OK,
What is they think once think twice think bike !
I agree I am a Motor Cyclist too, but have you seen how these food delivery bikers are riding through the town? Undertaking, Overtaking on Zig Zag crossings going way to fast for the conditions.
I myself have had a close shave with a delivery moped, I think they ride like manics because they are pressured into delivering as quickly as possible??
So you know all the facts then it might not of been the motorcyclist fault driving a motorcycle on this island is dangerous because of stupid car drivers that can’t drive use there mirrors or even bother to signal
If I were you, I would acquire a better grasp of spelling and grammar before you call others stupid.
No job, especially deliveries, is worth risking your life for. Perhaps these quick food outlets need to be taken to task by the police.
The delivery drivers for all companies are forced to take risks to meet deadlines ,there will be serious injuries or deaths soon, they need better pay and less time pressure. Only because I am an experienced driver did one avoid being hit recently. I hope they are properly insured for business use.
I worked for Lloys for a small amount of time.. they expected me to speed through town and get to cowes and back with 6 deliveries in 15 mins.. I didn’t but they always pushed for it
“They need better pay”
If you’re working at Domino’s the ship for a decent life has long sailed
Perhaps the motorcyclists need to THINK too.
Another driver that does not see… or think !! THINK BIKE
A dominos delivery driver took my 14 year old daughter on the back of his bike she didnt have a helmet on an he was speeding thru newport high street he should be sacked…
That or improve your parenting
She can jump on mine anytime
Riding like he stole it probably…
They all ride like absolute idiots those delivery guys! There’s one guy with personalized number plates on his scooter which is the worse!!
Not some of them, or most of them, but all of them.
You must know a lot of delivery drivers.
Sam Hyde was right about driving… “Always need a reference point. Like this cyclist, I’ve got to act like I want to splatter his brains everywhere… If the police found this after an accident, I’d go to jail”
What makes them a bad rider? Are you sat going 15mph in a 30mph like an inconsiderate driver?
Nothing on the sandwiches toady
A friend of mine now has a broken shoulder because of a domino’s rider beating her over at the traffic lights in west street Ryde , because nobody was willing to get out to help her she has no proof so can’t claim damages
The Police need to visit every Domino’s takeaway and speak with the Manager of the shop and re-enforce the rules of the road DO APPLY to their drivers and riders.
I’ve seen moped riders riding without any regard for the speed limit or road safety.
Perhaps if we didn’t rely so much on convenient food life would be better and safer on the roads. Glad to see there are so many on Island that can afford Dominos – can’t people cook anymore?
not ALL motorbikes/bikes/mopeds that ride like lunatics. The few idiots give the good ones a bad name. There’s more lunatic car drivers on the road.
I can’t comment on this particular case and who is at fault. But I do know that some of the delivery riders do not seem to have any knowledge of the Highway Code, for a start. I have witnessed some rather hair-raising manoevres from some Domino’s riders. And that doesn’t only apply to the moped riders, but also the Uber delivery cyclists. Some of the push bikes aren’t road legal. I saw one this week with a blinking front headlight attached to the rear of the bike.
I have seen many near misses with dominos,I can see why they are so expensive with all there insurance claims
I’ve often wondered if delivery drivers using their own vehicles have the correct insurance on their policy
Typical IW’er, Why don’t you mind your OWN business ?
