A man has been charged with stalking and weapons offences following an arrest on the Isle of Wight on Monday evening (6th February).
As previously reported by Island Echo, a man – now named as 40-year-old Joss Brown – was arrested at the East Cowes ferry terminal following a call to the police at 21:54.
Following enquiries, he was charged with the following offences:
- Stalking, relating to incidents alleged to have occurred between 7th August 2022 and 6th February 2023.
- Making threats to kill
- Possession of a knife in a public place
- Possession of a firearm, namely a BB gun, with intent to cause fear of violence
- Resisting arrest
- Brown, of Stockheath Way in Havant, was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon (8th February).
At the hearing, he was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 7th March.
Lucky the ferry staff were on the ball with this guy being drunk? if only we had that fixed link, over in no time, do the crime, and unless he ploughed into a car coming the other way in the tunnel, back on the mainland and away. Fortunate indeed there will always only be ferries.

Two points yes the name island echo gives it away and as he comes from Havant he is a mainlander unless Havant has been moved to the Island without the authorities telling us
Why stop with the term “mainlander”? What about other implied derogatory terms describing where people are from? What about their race or sexuality?
Once again, the incorrect use of the word “firearm”. A bb gun is NOT a firearm as there is no fire involved in igniting any gunpowder to propel the “bullet” or in this case a ball bearing. “Imitation firearm” would be a much more accurate description.
