A beauty, fashion and portrait photographer from the Isle of Wight has seen her photo shortlisted for an award in the fashion category of this year’s British Photography Awards.
Siân Elizabeth, who lives here on the Island, was a frequent visitor here before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. She then made the permanent move across the Solent when it was safe to do so.
Since she has been on the Island, Siân has started a personal photography project focussing on the benefits of cold water swimming for mental and physical health, as a person living with both M.E (Chronic fatigue syndrome) and Endometriosis herself.
It is hoped that with some help and funding, Siân can make create an exhibition, book and short film showcasing the Island’s swim community.
After graduating in journalism and after completing her Masters in advertising, Siân progressed to working with agencies around the UK to create content for client campaigns, including Weight Watchers, The Perfume Shop and St. Moriz.
The shortlisted picture was taken in Northumberland and sees Siân’s photo up against 19 other images in the hunt for the grand prize.
Of her shortlisted image, Siân has said:
“This image is part of a look-book collection for a local designer in Northumberland. We were fortunate enough to have incredible weather and a whole beach to ourselves to capture these incredible images, We carried all of the garments, lighting and accessories across to this section of beach where we found this perfect rock, to get this shot! It was well worth the journey to capture this”
The winner will be announced at a special awards ceremony at The Dorchester, London on 18th November.

Likely more PC subject choice than composure which elevated this, one expects
correct – just like every advert on tv now has a multi racial family – which isn’t reflective of actual demographics and there is an over representation of minorities, when viewed against the actual make up of the uk
