Hunt Forest Group Ltd has seen the news regarding the mindless act of vandalising which resulted in Ryde Inshore Rescue’s launch vehicle being taken out of service yesterday (Sunday) after having it’s launch vehicle’s windscreen smashed.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Ryde Rescue was ‘devastated and angered’ after they discovered their launch vehicle has been vandalised.
An appeal was put out through social media yesterday asking for witnesses to come forward with information and to contact the police.
CCTV footage was also being reviewed from within the area.
Since then, local agricultural machinery specialists Hunt Forest Group (formally R. Hunt Ltd.) of Rookley, has seen the appeal and made arrangements to donate a new windscreen to the lifesaving volunteer crew.
Hunt Forest Group is the Isle of Wight’s John Deer dealership and has been operating on the island for a number of decades.
A new windscreen has been ordered from Germany and will be shipped to the Island overnight.
A spokesperson for Hunt Forest Group has said as soon as it arrives, they will head straight to Ryde Inshore Rescue to install the new windscreen free of charge, meaning the service can return to normal and save lives once more.
UPDATE @ 12:55 – A spokesperson for Ryde Inshore Rescue has said:
“Well, what a 24hrs it has been.
“Firstly we would like to thank everyone who has offered kind words of support to us, and to Andrè Oz Allard from Islandwide Windscreens and Shaun Rowlands from National Windscreens for the generous offers to help (you two are gents), but ultimately we would like to thank Charlie and all the team at R.Hunts at Rookley who are the main John Deere tractor suppliers on the Island, they have very kindly offered to cover all costs to repair our tractor.
“We cannot thank everyone enough”

What a wonderful thing to do Hunt Forest Group Ltd . Thank you from all in ryde and all of the island.
Congratulations to Hunt Forest Group.
For replacing the damaged Windscreen.
Such a shame it came to this.
Well done for there help but who ever done it should be made to pay for the damage
All credit to Hunt Forest Group. Reinforces my view that though there is a small minority of people who won’t obey the law and who behave with no conscience, the majority are basically good people
Big thank you to Hunts. Well done
Now let’s get the criminals caught and punished
Please still donate to the gofundme appeal as the money will help the charity in the longer term
What a lovely gesture, well done to them
What a smashing gesture – well done Hunts!!!!!
A lovely gesture by Hunts, and IF I should ever buy a tractor, it will now be from them.
If they catch the person (s) they should be made to walk down the street with a sign saying what they have done and then put them in the stocks
I expects these yobs watches too many violent tapes and cds. Jenny won’t let there boys have such things on their television set. She worries what they gets up to at Mikes though. Can’t watch them all the times.
