Red Funnel is advising of 60 minute delays on its East Cowes to Southampton vehicle ferry service this morning (Tuesday).
The cross-Solent operator says that the 06:00 and 07:00 crossings from Southampton and the 07:30 and 08:30 crossings from East Cowes are delayed by 60 minutes for all booked traffic.
An earlier technical issue is being blamed for the disruption.
It’s unclear at this stage if other sailings will be effected, although it is likely that disruption will be experienced on the route throughout the day.
Red Funnel apologise for any inconvenience to your journey.
UPDATE @ 08:03 – Red Funnel has confirmed that the 09:00 sailing from Southampton and the 10:30 from East Cowes have both been cancelled.
UPDATE @ 10:01 – Further cancellations have been announced, with the 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 23:55 sailings from Southampton pulled as well as the 13:30, 16:30 and 19:30 from East Cowes.

Overworked them brining over the covid carriers to the island.
And what might your contribution to life’s great fauna, flora and culture on the other island be?
what a stupid comment!
Oh do I hear the sound of cages being rattled. Give it 2 weeks and the island will be rife with it again.
People, I’m sure are getting fed up with expensive ferries crossings along with inadequate service?! I’m well aware of mechanical problems can cause issues, but this happens far to often. I hope these companies like Red funnel & Wightlink aren’t the down fall of local economy which is fragile to say the least.
Lack of staff due to the way they treat them. How is that a technical issue?
Ferries are getting as unreliable as the floating bridge
More chaos in E Cowes then…
most expensive water to cross in the entire world, not a great guiness book of records entry for the red pirates, incideously tied with associated british ports and leves that are paid to access waters, all costs passed on to islanders! ferry services to offshore british islands need to be nationalised, this Island is becoming a penal colony for those that cannot afford these tyranical ferry companies prices..
Have not seen my family since last August they were booked on the 10.00 ferry just for the day. Still in Southampton. Red funnel overcharge, unreliable old ferries that are obviously past their sale by date. They were delayed in July last year by this crap company and even though Whitelink rip people off as well at least they do not have worn out ferries and we as residence will not travel by Red Funnel again neither will my family and friends. Try investing your rip off money on new ferries.
You maybe living here but you have no idea how to spell wightlink.
No sorry about that just so furious that did not check as my I pad kept putting white link alone word and thought I had put it right. Well spotted
That should read all one word
Nor the plural of resident!
this happened last bank holiday if I remember rightly…
It’s about time these money grabbing ferries where sorted out……booked a Sun holiday last year in Dorset to find out that the ferry cost was the same as the holiday price!!!
Same old comments moan moan moan. For goodness sake it’s a ferry delay hardly life
threatening. Get a life.
Agreed you wonder why some people live here.
Get that tunnel,bridge,monorail sorted ASAP
I have to say, seems a coincidence that yesterdays figure for the island fit in with the opening up of restrictions and more people coming over here.
Facts speak for themselves I’m afraid, of course not reported anywhere local at all. Why?
The new council are being quiet on this as are the hospital.

Try nearly 4 hours behind.
You live on an island, problems with the ferries will always crop up from time to time.I’m afraid you will have to put up with it.A fixed link will never happen ,the costs involved would be be astronomical.
