A vehicle was seized after an alleged unaccompanied learner driver was stopped by Police in Newport last week.
Officers spotted the vehicle driving in a ‘questionable manner’ at around 05:00 in what Police described as ‘the dead of night’.
When stopped, the driver told officers that he had come over in the early hours so that he could get some practice in before heading to the test centre, but when they checked, officers found he didn’t have a licence and was in the vehicle on his own.
With lengthy delays being experienced by those looking to take their practical test on the mainland, the driver had travelled across the Solent from Portsmouth to take his test on the Island.
The vehicle was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
Some people come out with some right
C@ck and Ball stories.
I feel sorry for the Police having to listen to
pathetic excuses.
What a load of b******* , I bet he was up to no good
Every day the test centre has numerous applicants probably straight off a dingy & into the test centre within weeks, certainly not local. Taking opportunities away from our local youngsters…
I assume he missed his slot for the test then?
Give the lad a break. A caution would have been appropriate.
Give him a Kit Kat more like!
Bang him up as well, driving with no licence
is a crime, obviously not in your world.
We need to keep our roads safe!
