Firefighters are tackling a laundrette fire in Cowes this morning (Saturday).
3 appliances -from stations in Newport and Cowes – are on scene at Mill Hill Road, where a small fire has broken out at Vec-Wash.
2 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have entered the commercial property with a hose reel and have removed a large amount of lint.
Positive pressure ventilation is now being used to remove smoke from the building.
The incident, which began shortly before 08:45, is under control.
Mill Hill Road remains open under give and take.
UPDATE – It has been confirmed that a fire broke out within a tumble drier, thought to have been caused by a build up of lint.
