Cannabis found on her person and in her flat led to a court appearance for 40-year-old Emma Stafford on Tuesday.
Stafford, of Medeway in Lake, appeared before Magistrates accused of being in possession of a Class B drug – an offence she pleaded guilty to at the first opportunity.
The court heard from prosecutor Ann Smout that Emma Stafford had been identified by another cannabis user as being a drugs supplier. It came after Police had stopped a male and conducted a search, locating an amount of cannabis. The male identified Stafford as his supplier, leading to officers also conducting a stop and search on the 40-year-old.
However, searches of her person and searches of her home failed to locate anything more than cannabis amounts consistent with personal use. The CPS said there was no suggestion of dealing in their submissions.
Stafford, who has a previous conviction for driving whilst disqualified, claimed the cannabis was for self-medication purposes for anxiety.
Magistrates fined her £40 and ordered her to pay £85 costs with a £34 surcharge – a total of £159.

What a grass……………!
Junkies do anything to save their own skin.
Personal use for anxiety. Doesn’t every dopehead claim the same thing?
Yep.
Same as all those who need alcohol to even socialise, go dancing or watch live music.
They claim the same thing.
and now Emma will have told everyone that he is a grass and he will not be welcome in any of the cannabis using communities homes or social circles. That bloke has a target on his back now and will likely get a kicking soon – he will need to move off the island, if he wishes to continue being able to score weed and be relatively safe on the street.
Anxiety; they could always consult the GP, even through an online econsult for a prescription. Might be cheaper, legal, safer and less likely for the ‘grass’ in your life to sing like a canary at any opportunity
get back grass!!!!!!!
