Lake Parish Council has confirmed its ongoing support for the Warm Space provision in Lake, as well as the relocation of the Foodbank to the Methodist Church.
The backing forms part of a wider commitment to community services on the Isle of Wight, with councillors recently approving a 5.8% increase in the Parish Precept.
The increase will help ensure continued support for the Bay Youth Offer and literacy projects delivered in partnership with Broadlea Primary School. Funding will also assist Bay Place Plan initiatives, including works at Manor Road Playground, and provide support to Men In Sheds, which is also relocating to Lake.
Additional funding has been allocated to maintain grounds maintenance services and Fairway Park. The servicing and maintenance of public toilets at New Road, Lake Cliff Gardens and Lake Slipway will also continue.
Further provision includes the installation of buoys in the Bay, support for an Environment Enforcement Officer and the continuation of Breakfast Clubs for students in the Bay area.
During a special ‘Clear The Beach’ musical concert at the Methodist Church, celebrating jigs, reels and waltzes and raising funds for the Independent Lifeboat, Lake Parish Councillor Tony Hartley presented a cheque for £1,000 to Chris Nuckley and Edna Morris of Lake Methodist Church in support of the Warm Space initiative.
