The Isle of Wight’s Kimberley Murray made her World Cup debut for Great Britain in the sport of Skeleton at the weekend, finishing in a very respectable 13th place.
30-year-old Murray took to the track in Sigulda, Latvia on Sunday morning and got off to a good start in Heat 1 – despite slightly tricky conditions. She crossed the line in a time of 53.72.
In Heat 2 a slight skid lost the former Long Jumper valuable tenths of a second overall but she improved her run time, stopping the clock at 53.62. Her combined time of 1:47.34 awarded 13th place overall ahead of the USA’s Savannah Graybill.
It was just over 2 weeks ago that Kim took her first ever gold medal in Skeleton when she competed in the IBSF Europe Cup in Winterberg, Germany.
