The Isle of Wight’s Kimberley Murray has ended the women’s skeleton World Cup season on a high by securing 7th place overall in Canada – a new personal best.
The first run at Calgary on Friday saw Kim cross the line in a respectable time of 58.29 to take an initial 10th place. However, it was the 30-year-old’s second run that really impressed as Kim excelled to take the 3rd quickest run time in 57.37.
Although Kim admits she lacked a bit of consistency, the impressive second run helped to secure 7th place overall in a time of 1:55.50. This was just 0.16 seconds behind Bronze Olympic medalists and fellow Brit, Laura Deas.
This week’s skeleton action, which was making up for the cancelled Konigssee race, has marked a new personal best for Kim. It was only last month that Island Echo reported on a 10th place finish for the former Long Jump athlete – a record she has now bettered by 3 places.
Kim is now awaiting news on whether she has been selected for the World Championships at Whistler, Canada next month.
