JEWEL OF THE SOUTH TO MAKE RETURN TO TV SCREENS NEXT WEEK

Hit Channel 5 documentary Jewel of the South – which focuses on life here on the Isle of Wight – is to make its much-anticipated return next week. Back next Thursday (1st February), the first episode will step onto the Island as various residents including Olivia Finch and her crew compete in the iconic Round the Island yacht race, Jenny Simmons and Louise Hart begin the rollout of a brand-new ice cream flavour and Neil and Michelle Payne give up their day jobs to develop an alpaca walking business all-star in the opening episode. Also set to share the screen is amateur inventor Nick Pointing who unveils a special creation and ecologist Jamie Marsh and a group of fellow dedicated volunteers as they work to repopulate a depleted seagrass meadow. Narrated once again by the Island’s own Alan Titchmarsh, there will be 4 episodes in Series 2. The inaugural series was such a success that the original planned 4 episodes were extended to 6x hour-long episodes, featuring a variety of Islanders including; musician Derek Sandy, diver Martin Woodward, marine biologist Theo Vickers and thatched roof connoisseur Darcy Muncer.
