Schools, businesses and residents across the Isle of Wight have come together in a vibrant display of colour today (Friday), taking part in a special mufti day to support 6-year-old Tula Hunt in her battle with a rare cancer.
The day has encouraged participants to wear bright and glittery outfits inspired by Tula’s love of rainbows and unicorns, all while raising vital funds for her and her family.
The Isle of Wight community responded in force, with classrooms, workplaces and local groups embracing the theme and sharing photos to show their support.
Tula was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) earlier this year and is currently receiving treatment at Southampton Children’s Hospital. Fundraising efforts have already seen over £140,000 raised to help her family manage the financial pressures of time away from home and lost income.
Anna Jacobs, Head of School at Nettlestone Primary School, has said:
“We are so proud that our little idea, from our little Island School on our little Island, has managed to inspire so many people, not just on the Island or the mainland, but around the world!
“We send our love and strength to Tula”.
