At a ceremony in Telford last week, Vicky and Paul Butler, franchisees with domiciliary care brand Right at Home (Isle of Wight), received the ‘Community Impact Award’ at the 2025 British Franchise Association, HSBC UK British Franchise Awards.
The judges were very impressed with the numerous events the couple organised in their local community, which included: The Independent Living Show which has grown over 3 years from 25 stalls and 300 attendees to 45 stalls and more than 500 attendees, their Dementia Afternoon Tea Club, with a quiz, crafting and speakers and their community strengthening ‘Community Christmas 2024’, where the landlord of the local pub offered the use of his kitchen and local individuals and businesses donated fresh food and cash, which, coupled with grants and a raffle, allowed them to invite 48 people to have lunch together on Christmas day.
Right at Home was founded in 2010 and franchised in 2011. The currently have 70 franchise owners covering 85 territories across the UK. Right at home provides premium quality homecare services that support people to live independently, and with dignity, in their own homes. In 2024 they won ‘Franchisor of the Year – Established’ at the British Franchise Awards.
Founded in 1977, the BFA is the UK’s self-regulatory body for franchising, providing members with training, education and a voluntary framework of standards for ethical franchising, which they pledge to uphold and abide by.
Known as the ‘Oscars of franchising’, a British Franchise Award is highly regarded in the industry, identifying the best of the best in a sector which contributes £19.1 billion to the UK economy and has had a ‘forced failure’ rate of less than 6% for over 20 years.
Award winner Vicky said:
“Paul and I are in complete shock about our win at the BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards! These awards are so highly thought of within the Right at Home network – it was a privilege to have even been shortlisted, and so we are unbelievably proud to now find ourselves BFA award winners.
“This recognition would not have been possible without our incredible team, who work so hard to provide the very highest standards of care for our clients and to support the wider community too. We’re very proud of them indeed.”
She went on:
“We’re so fortunate to have such unwavering support from National Office. Lucy Campbell our CEO has shown so much faith in us and been so inspiring. Everyone at National Office has been so supportive since our first day and they never fail to go above and beyond for us.”
On the night, the Personal Services category, which domiciliary care falls into, dominated, with 63% of winners reflecting wider sector growth of 53% since 2018, according to the BFA’s most recent survey, sponsored by NIC Local.
Pip Wilkins QFP, CEO of the BFA said:
“Our huge congratulations to Vicky and Paul and their team at Right at Home (Isle of Wight). It is businesses like this that are leading the way in British franchising; making it the hugely successful sector that it is. They are shining examples of successful, ethical franchising in the UK and we look forward to seeing them achieve even more in 2026.”
