A 6-week public consultation on the Island Planning Strategy – a planning bible that will set the course of the Island’s housing in the coming years – has been pushed back by a month. A period of public representation was due to get underway on Monday (10th June), gathering the views of Islanders following the publication of the Island Planning Strategy (IPS). However due to the general election being called for 4th July and the associated pre-election period which restricts what a council can publish during that period, known as purdah, the publication of the IPS has been delayed. The 6-week consultation period, which is an opportunity for anyone to make comments on the soundness of the IPS and suggest any changes they think are necessary, is now scheduled to start on Monday 8th July. All duly made comments received are then submitted to the Secretary of State together with the IPS and evidence base for an independent planning inspector to review and carry out a public examination.
