Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely has shared his delight about the news that a new £76 million fund from the Government will support vital services from charities and community organisations, with more to come soon.
The new funding, available via the National Lottery’s Community Fund, is to help tackle increases in the cost of living, ensuring that organisations can continue helping low-income individuals and households.
This Government funding means critical services run by organisations can apply for between £10,000 and £75,000.
To qualify for this funding, organisations need to provide 1 or more of the following services:
- food and emergency supplies – like food and baby banks or the provision of hot meals, clothes, or toiletries
- emergency shelter – like night shelters or other accommodation for people experiencing homelessness
- safe spaces – like domestic abuse services and youth services
- warmth – like warm rooms and spaces
- financial and housing advice – like giving people advice because of the increased cost of living.
Additionally, organisations must meet both criteria of increased demand as well as facing increased cost of delivery.
Bob Seely MP has said:
“This is good news for Island charities and community organisations who are already doing great work locally to support Islanders.
“I encourage Island organisations to apply if they believe they are eligible.”

You should pop over sometime and see how your government and the council are messing it up here.
We are easy to find just hop on red funnel or wightlink ferry. But don’t expect to find free parking or a floating bridge.
OK, Bob, so we have to compete for pitiful funding which will be awarded on the basis of whose bid best matches Tory values. And remind me, who will prepare these bids? Will it be little old ladies shivering in their un-insulated hovels, or will it be organisations that can afford to pay professional bid writers?
