Home Instead Isle of Wight is lifting the spirts of older people in the community this Christmas, encouraging people to ‘Be a Santa’ and donate a gift.
The home care company is partnering with Age UK to spread joy to older people who may spend Christmas alone. Together, they are asking people to donate gifts, from winter warmers to sweet treats, to bring a smile to the elderly community over the festive season.
Christmas can be a lonely time for some ageing adults, and Home Instead Isle of Wight wants to bring some festive cheer to those who might not otherwise receive a gift or see loved ones over Christmas.
The current collection points where members of the public can donate gifts are Age UK’s office in Newport, Home Instead’s office in Cowes, Newport’s Morrisons and Asda, Tesco Extra at Ryde, Cowes Primary School and a number of small local businesses are also involved. More collection points will be announced soon!
In 2021 the team at Home Instead, along with Age UK volunteers, distributed over 350 gifts to local older people over Christmas, spreading joy to those who needed it the most.
John Oswald, owner of Home Instead Isle of Wight said,
“We’re delighted to be partnering with Age UK Isle of Wight again this festive season. As a company that provides care in older people’s homes, we know that loneliness and isolation is far too common in the community.
“If you donate a gift, you will play a part to combat the loneliness epidemic faced by many older people and help make Christmas a joyful time for them.”
