When he is identified I doubt he will get nothing more than a slap on the wrist. It would be good if he was given the same sort of punishment that he meted out to the poor dog.
Dogs shouldn’t be kept on leads, they should be free, to hunt foxes and hares.
On the other hand, you should be kept on a lead…
Why don’t the police say what type of dog it was? If it was the same type of dog that’s in the photo, then they could link the two together….
The tattoo should show who this piece of garbage is. I hope animal lovers remember him when the courts have failed to protect innocent animals from the likes of such.
He smacked the dog because it tried to attack and kill some swans, that’s how you train animals. Get over it.
They were seen hitting, beating and kicking their dog till it went floppy and looked unresponsive.
Hardly just a smack and telling off.
Thing should be shot before it attacks a child
Sounds like you know what happened?
If what you say is true, good on him! Bloody fed up with dogs being free to roam and attack because of idiot owners. Least this guy was trying to instill some discipline into his dog.
All the hand wringing namby pambys don’t believe in discipline, look where that’s got us eh!
Sounds as though you weren’t there, so have no idea of the circumstance.
So it’s OK for a human to attack a dog to the point were it becomes unresponsive. Absurd as your previous comment that all dog owners on the Island know each other, and knew who’s dog attacked the swan a year back.
My late father always reckoned there’s something seriously wrong with animal haters, and I guess he’s right, you’re a fine example.
How do you figure I’m an animal hater? You jumper of conclusions.
Dogs need training, from birth, and a damn good behavioural understanding by the owner, which is sadly lacking in so many cases, leading to livestock, wildlife, people and other precious pets being attacked and killed.
All dog owners should have to pass an eligibility exam to own one.
You flaming muppet.
Dog on lead job done muzzle and castrate the owner onto a winner stop his Dna being foisted on humanity he obviously isn’t fit to own any sort of animal.
It sounds like you need some “discipline”
That is NOT how you train a dog, violence will only teach him violence, same as human beings. Glad I don’t know you.
What a ridiculous thing to say. There’s never a need for violence when training a dog! Any proper dog owner knows how to train their dog without resorting to physical violence. These scum need naming and shaming and banned from keeping animals.
Obviously he isn’t fit to have orteain a dog the and dig should have bern in a, lead and the whack job should have a muzzle on!! It’s always the idjeet at end of lead not the dog!! Hope RSPCA taken the dog as soon as it could.
Let me guess you sit in your paid for house with your false nails , stuck on eyelashes that enter a room 5 seconds before you do , with your face looking like it’s been sprayed with tango, never ever owned an animal( thank god) with half a dozen kids running around, you complaining “I ain’t got no money to feed kids mc Donald, but I’ll have another bottle of cheap plonk” and suddenly you know all about animals !!! and how to train them , Unbelievable.
No i actually help run and train the pack under the guidance of the Master of Hounds, but what would a town bred little person like you know of the countryside and our traditions.
Best get back on your peace protest now sonny.
Well done Island Echo!! Let’s hope this piece of rubbish, that is passing himself off as a dog owner, gets his just desserts. Poor, poor dog to have an owner such as this!! Such a big shot to bully a dog!! Plus the poor woman that witnessed this with her children, how could she speak up?? This piece of scum is a dangerous piece of work!!
Scumbag, anybody who can be cruel to an animal deserves to be battered …..
Yes I could totally shove him in a kennel / cage and poke him with a very sharp stick!!!!!
If you cannot be kind to the poor dog hand him in for rehoming, you obviously aren’t an animal lover and this dog doesn’t deserve to have you as an owner….
Should be banned for life ….Scumbag total scumbag……
Bet it some sad lonely middle age 50 year old who got two dogs for company
What part of this article says the people in the photo are the ones responsible for the act against the animal?
Well done to whoever took the photo.
Name and shame.
Take the dog of them and would gladly give the same punishment to them
Im so glad the people reported it hopefully something will be done . Makes you wander if they can do it in public what happens at home .
It would be silly to take things at face value despite the claim that it is “alleged” and no evidence suggests the “abuse”. Disregarding the fact that anybody can take a picture of somebody and say whatever they please. Innocent until proven guilty
B3llends in the comments as usual hiding behind a screen with fake profiles. Cesspit of a “news” outlet
I would be seriously questioning the credibility of the person who reported this. Not the first time something’s been said about something and it turned out to be complete bs…
“We note this incident has attracted some significant commentary on social media”
Really? What a surprise. Police release a picture and an ambiguous statement, and then do not expect people to go into a hate frenzy. Well handled. Bravo.
All dogs should be banned in public. They are a menace
