A charity supporting people affected by acquired brain injuries on the Isle of Wight is set to benefit from £1,545 raised during a fundraising golf day organised by personal injury law firm Harris Fowler.
Headway Southampton, West Wessex and Isle of Wight is one of 2 charities which will share the money raised at Harris Fowler’s first Charity Golf Day.
The event was held at Oake Manor Golf Club on 2nd September, bringing together colleagues, partners and friends of the firm for a day of fundraising and friendly competition.
The £1,545 total will be split between Headway Southampton, West Wessex and Isle of Wight and bibic.
Headway provides support to people affected by acquired brain injury, as well as their families and carers, across an area which includes the Isle of Wight.
The effects of a brain injury can extend beyond the initial injury and potentially affect a person’s independence, relationships, employment and everyday life.
Ongoing support and rehabilitation can therefore play an important role in helping people and their families adjust to life following an acquired brain injury.
The second charity to benefit, bibic, provides specialist support to adults, children and young people with developmental and neurological difficulties, disabilities and brain injuries, as well as their families.
Representing Harris Fowler at the golf day were CEO Grant Fowler, Director Neil Williams and Marketing Manager Tom Marshall.
They were joined by representatives from Bauer, Old Mill, ARAG and Tula Medical Experts.
Harris Fowler says that through its work as a personal injury law firm, it works with people and families whose lives have been changed by serious injuries.
The firm says that while securing compensation can provide financial security and access to rehabilitation, support can continue to be needed after a claim has concluded.
This can include specialist rehabilitation, practical assistance, emotional support and guidance, both for the individual affected and their family.
Harris Fowler says its relationships with organisations including Headway Southampton, West Wessex and Isle of Wight and bibic form part of its wider commitment to helping people affected by serious injuries access support.
Following the success of its inaugural Charity Golf Day, the firm hopes it will be the first of further opportunities to raise money and awareness for organisations supporting people and families affected by serious injury.
