Collaborative working between the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, HM Coastguard and Freshwater’s Co-Responder led to the successful transfer of an injured male from the beach near Compton this evening (Wednesday).
Emergency services were called to the popular beauty spot off Military Road shortly before 17:45 following reports of an adult male having suffered an injury on the beach.
Due to the hard to reach location, the assistance of HM Coastguard was requested. Teams from The Needles and Bembridge were mobilised to assist paramedics and the local Co-Responder.
The casualty was successfully extricated from the beach and transferred into the awaiting ambulance at Brook car park for onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
A group of students from UKSA have been praised for making the male comfortable prior to the arrival of emergency teams.
The incident drew to a close by 18:30.

Hope he’s not too hurt. Well done the students. 🙂
Lockdown ?? Why was he not at Home staying Safe ?
Don’t be stupid. Read covid rules.
A wee bit rude. Read a book on manners. Regards.
Because one doesn’t need to when UKSA, definitely not privileged, students on their hollibobs are ever alert to impending tragedy and save the day. Huzzah! That’s why we can all do what we like, my friend. Especially if you don’t care or have lots of money… All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.
