Hovertravel recently welcomed senior representatives from Dementia UK to the Isle of Wight, in a visit aimed at raising awareness and supporting local fundraising efforts for families affected by dementia.
The delegation included CEO Hilda Hayo and Chair of Trustees Professor David Croisdale-Appleby, alongside Lady Sally Grylls, Jade Dyer and a group of supporters.
During their visit, Hilda Hayo was presented with a cheque by Arun and Jessy Gulati. The funds were raised at an Indian-themed charity dinner held in Wootton and will go directly towards supporting Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurse service on the Isle of Wight.
Admiral Nurses provide specialist support to families living with dementia, offering guidance through what can often be a complex and emotional journey.
A Q&A session focusing on dementia and end-of-life care was later hosted by Joe Robertson at Bembridge Sailing Club, giving attendees the opportunity to gain insight and ask questions.
Hovertravel has long supported Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses and continues to back initiatives that raise both awareness and funding.
As part of this ongoing commitment, Hovertravel has introduced a “Hover & Walk” event as part of this year’s Isle of Wight Walking Festival.
Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel, has said:
“Welcoming Dementia UK to the Isle of Wight was a privilege for our team, and it was incredibly moving to see the strength of local support for such an important cause.
“The work of Admiral Nurses makes a real difference to families facing dementia, and we are proud to play a part in raising both awareness and vital funds. We hope our Hover & Walk event encourages even more people to get involved and show their support.”
The Hover & Walk event is set to take place on Saturday 9th May and is free to join, with participants encouraged to fundraise in support of Dementia UK.
