Ferry operator Wightlink is facing delays of up to 60-minutes on its Fishbourne to Portsmouth route this morning (Monday).
The delays are a result of a technical issue that saw the 07:20 sailing to Portsmouth cancelled.
This comes as many holidaymakers head home after the heatwave comes to a close and the disruptive weather makes its way in.

Wightlink, you literally have one job to do. One job. Not a single ferry I’ve got in the past three weeks has left on time.
Sam maybe the truth is wightlink could not fill up the ferry so thats why this ferry was cancelled .Its easy to blame a technical issue ,which is hard to prove
Exactly.Disgraceful.Never mind the holiday makers. My wife has a hospital appointment in Portsmouth now most specialist services have been moved to the mainland making us all the more dependant on good old wightlink!
I now account for at least an hours gap between when the ferry is actually due and my connecting train. Along with the abysmal service, its the lack of any useful updates to their website or app.
I’m currently waiting for the 15:40, which is now the 16:40, and the boat hasn’t even left the Island yet.
So people trying to make plans even with delays are still be misled by poor communications.
Also a bridge would be great, would mean I could continue to live on the Island I grew up on, but actually get to my job that is in Portsmouth.
Idea….. Do us all a favour and move to the mainland.
Your problems are solved
Sally , maybe you dont use this appalling service and kindly have considerations for other users
Sam i am sympathetic with you ,this goverment wanted to intoduce a fine if you failed your appointment ?, i was against a fixed link ,but now i am all for it but a tunnel would be unsightly ,
what i am considering is my siblings later in life having and i do not want them to experience this appaling Service ..
This must be the easiest story in the world for Island Echo to report on. Copy/paste, copy/paste on a daily basis.
About time they built a bridge I think.
Yes, build a bridge or tunnel to Jersey.
The technical issue being, there wernt enough passengers to cover costs, that old cherry.
Or, we forgot that ferries needed a crew to operate them.
Build a bridge ,tunnel ,monorail.
So in ferry from Portsmouth now, in reality they are running 2 hour delays, not 1 hour as advertised on their useless app and website.
Both ferry company’s are a rip off shambles
Why was my 1.40 cancelled from fishbourne and put on the 5pm if 1 hour delay, rang at 9am and told to go to the checking in hut and see what they could do about changing, the lady in the kiosk was quite rude when I said I had a flight from Heathrow at 7pm there was nothing they could do, so had to make other arrangements to get to airport.
