Mayor of Cowes, Stuart Ellis, welcomed members of the National Street Rod Association to Northwood House on Tuesday (27th May) as part of the Isle of Wight Fun Run 2026.
The National Street Rod Association (NSRA), which represents one of Europe’s largest hot rod communities, has brought a colourful collection of customised vehicles to the Isle of Wight for a packed programme of events taking place across the Island this week.
The organisation celebrates vehicle customisation inspired by early American hot rod culture, which began before the Second World War with enthusiasts modifying cars for greater speed and performance.
Today, the movement includes everything from classic 1940s hot rods to modern performance builds and show vehicles. The Isle of Wight Fun Run 2026 will continue with several public events over the coming days.
On Thursday (28th May), members will visit Osborne House in East Cowes from 10:30.
Friday (29th May) will see displays at both the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum and the Isle of Wight Aviation Museum from 10:30.
A 10-mile cruise along Military Road is planned for Saturday (30th May), departing Chale Recreation Ground at 11:30 before heading to The Needles.
The event will conclude on Sunday (31st May) with a public Show Day at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park in Bembridge. The event opens at 10:00, with prize giving scheduled for 14:30.
