The Needles Landmark Attraction is to be closed until Thursday whilst improvement works are completed on the main road into the site. Island Roads will be completing the works on Alum Bay New Road (B3322) until 1st February, meaning there is no access to the site for motorists. The closure was enforced this morning (Monday). Whilst vehicular access between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 is prohibited, pedestrians wishing to walk to the popular beauty spot can still do so. As for cyclists, they will have to dismount to be able to walk through the closure. The Needles Landmark Attraction will reopen on Thursday 1st February.

Landmark??? dreadfull place rusty old crap lift dyed coloured sand ..expensive to park ..what a dump.
Very overpriced, when was the last time the chair lift was inspected / serviced.
I do not think anybody will notice or care if it closed for good.
I expect their employees would care.
Seasonal, used during summer them discarded with no care.
Simpleton remark from a simpleton brain.
I only post facts here.
As others have stated over the years NPP is overpriced and full of tat.
A carousel, a tea cup ride, mini crazy golf around some plastic dinosaurs, an expensive gift shop, an expensive chairlift ride to the beach, expensive parking. That is it, and it is tragic.
Another geriatric overner, he doesn’t appear to like fireworks, golfers and now fairground rides.
What happens with emergency services access if needed by the few individuals that live up there as no other routes through? Surely Blue Light services can access the area and if not, Island Roads need to look at their contract which states access to be maintained for emergency services. The coast watch people work up there, so hopefully they have been allowed through.
Emergency access is always maintained. Coast watch were contacted.
One cool way to have emergency access at all times is having cycling tracks wide enough to fit a car, which is a proper size requirement in most countries anyway, among other things for that reason.
In Netherlands emergency services will often choose to go by cycling track instead of a road because it’s far easier for cyclists to get onto the grass and let them pass than for the entire road of cars to make space when they’re stuck in traffic.
In case of building works you can even use it as a bypass for car traffic, giving way to original audience of cyclists of course, but still not having to close the road completely.
Man, I wish we had proper cycling tracks to help out car drivers when road gets closed like this 🙁
Peace from traffic yahoo!
And what are the buses doing? Not only do they normally operate to their terminus there, but several are based there. Any service past Totland?
