Planning permission for the installation of 18 ‘garden huts’ overlooking Sandown Bay is being sought from the Isle of Wight Council.
The plan for 2 sets of 9 huts running adjacent to Culver Parade is part of the regeneration of Sandham Gardens by the owners of The Needles Landmark Attraction, Heritage GB.
The new beach huts – situated next to The Bandstand – will feature a private wooden access walkway and uninterrupted views overlooking the sea to the front, with a balcony overlooking the gardens to the rear.
Earlier this week it was reported that planning permission has been granted by the Isle of Wight Council for a £500,000 golf course on site. It is all part of a masterplan by the tourism giant to turn Sandham Gardens and Sandown into a visitor destination once again.
If permission is granted in a swift manner then it is hoped the huts can be ready for Easter 2019 – the same anticipated opening time as the new dinosaur adventure golf course.
The masterplan for the site has changed somewhat from its initial publication in November 2017, with the golf course scaled back in size and the High Ropes adventure zone relocated. There also appears to be the removal ‘pop up’ shops and a performance area, but the addition of a wildlife trail.
