The driver of a Hyundai had a shock when they returned to their vehicle to find it blocking a main road in Shanklin this lunchtime (Tuesday).
The vehicle, which was initially parked on Steephill Road, is thought to have rolled down the hill before coming to a stop across both lanes of the High Street.
Traffic was brought to a standstill in the area, which had a knock on effect to Southern Vectis buses.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed to Island Echo they were alerted at 12:02 and had officers on scene.
The car has now been moved and traffic is flowing in the area once again.

Obviously don’t know how to drive. You leave your car in gear when you leave it. Hope they were fined.
That only works if the car is manual but we don’t fully know all the facts do we.
no it actually works on an auto too…
Not sure they tech drivers to do that nowadays,..
presumably this was one of those new-fangled ‘electric’ handbrakes,.. never trust them!
My old car was an ‘08’ plate with an automatic handbrake so not so new-fangled actually…. an in the past 10 years I’ve never had to adjust it like you do a normal handbrake with a cable! It’s never let me down.
Could be a faulty handbrake you even think that might of been problem. Get off your high horse
Our electronic handbrake didn’t work on brand new car when we parked on that road.
Not sure if this car had an electric handbrake but they are a crazy idea.
Why have an overly complicated system with many points of failure when a handle and ratchet works so very well. Not only that but if the cars power system fails the car is rendered immobile. What a great idea that is, I bet the AA loves them trying to tow cars with the rear wheels jammed up. I am sure they have their ways around it but what a nightmare.
See how you love you electronic handbrake when you get the bill to repair it. Again, crazy idea.
