A 14-year-old boy and a 58-year-old man arrested following a bomb scare in Gurnard last year have both been released without charge.
As previously reported by Island Echo, emergency services descended on Cockleton Lane at around 19:44 on Monday 3rd November as officers searched an address linked to an investigation into alleged malicious communications of a sexual nature.
During the search, a number of suspicious objects were discovered, prompting the evacuation of properties within a 100-metre radius while Royal Navy bomb disposal experts carried out an assessment.
Residents were out of their homes for around 4 hours as specialist officers examined the items to determine whether they posed any threat.
Thankfully, it was later confirmed that no explosive materials were present.
A 14-year-old boy from Cowes was initially arrested on suspicion of sending communications of an indecent or offensive nature. He and a 58-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place and possessing an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose.
However, following the conclusion of a thorough investigation, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that both individuals have now been released without charge and will face no further action.
Police had also been exploring possible links between the incident and a similar incident on 11th March 2025.
