The Isle of Wight Breathe Easy group has received an £850 donation towards specialist respiratory equipment for St Mary’s Hospital.
The money was presented on Tuesday (6th October) following fundraising by the VHVC, with the donation coming from club funds and proceeds from an Open Day held at Northwood Showground on 19th July.
The Open Day was also held in part to celebrate the life of Kevin Froment, the club’s long-serving newsletter editor.
Kevin was also newsletter editor and a committee member for the Isle of Wight Breathe Easy group, which supports Island residents and families living with chronic lung conditions.
The group regularly raises money to purchase specialist equipment for the Respiratory Department at St Mary’s Hospital, helping support the range of lung conditions diagnosed and treated there.
Andy Savage, chairman of Isle of Wight Breathe Easy, received the £850 cheque on behalf of the group.
He thanked the VHVC for its donation and confirmed that the money had already been earmarked for the purchase of a specialist item of respiratory equipment.
Mr Savage also thanked Sam Smith, Kevin’s daughter and the club’s current news editor, for arranging the presentation.
