Springfield Nursing Home resident Joyce Jones, 90, took to the seas recently when Hartford Care arranged a special boat trip for residents across the Solent.
Joyce, who is known as JJ, moved into Springfield in July 2026. Joined by Hartford Care staff and fellow residents Lynn, Ron, Tim and John, JJ was given the opportunity to take the wheel of the boat herself.
She says:
“I thoroughly enjoyed our wet and windy sail! It was truly better than any medicine and something I won’t forget.”
Phil Bell, Activities Coordinator for Springfield Care Home, said:
“Alongside our commitment to outstanding care, Hartford Care helps create special experiences and lasting memories for residents and their families. It’s important to us that our residents have the opportunity to try new things, regardless of their age or circumstance. JJ’s day on the Solent is a wonderful example of a Springfield Nursing Home adventure!”
