GUESS WHAT… FLOATING BRIDGE SUSPENDED DUE TO ‘MINOR’ TECHNICAL ISSUE

The Cowes Floating Bridge has been suspended this evening (Saturday) due to a ‘minor’ technical issue, says the Isle of Wight Council.

In the latest episode of the Floating Bridge saga, the ‘wight elephant’ has been taken out of service and will remain suspended for the remainder of the evening.

The Council says that the chain ferry will also be out of action tomorrow morning (Sunday).

Instead of sorting this debacle out. Council will simply hit all council taxpayers with an increase to cover annual losses. After all these years, why the reluctance to act??

I was going to suggest to force the builders to build a bridge as recomenpense but that would probably just collapse when the first vehicle goes over it

No surprise there then 2nd time in a week !!!!!!!!.
As a previous question I asked (several times)
Where is the £38-000 Engineer who is being paid to keep it Running???????
Instead of waiting till March for mediation why not just dump it????
Mediation is a total waste of time, you know it’s not fit for purpose so why do you need someone with a title to tell you???
You’re poor cash cow’s have told you for year’s….

A minor technical issue.
Now that’s new Council language for “its not fit for service”

If this were a service being provided by a contractor to the council, and IF the council were doing their job properly (don’t hold your breath here) they, the council, would be claiming compensation and suing left and right. So why are we, the tax payers, still having to put up with this matter without any indication that those in the council are not being held responsible for their incompetence? It is high time that something positive was done to hold those responsible to account and, as this has been going on for so long, he at the top should go now, or preferably, a long time ago. Too much covering up. Time for an enquiry.

Further deep insult to serious injury. I am sick to death of my money being thrown down the toilet on this. Borderline criminal action from IWC to continue to spend on it.

For heavens sake just get rid of the useless pile of junk, sell it for scrap to recover a tiny bit of the money which has been wasted on it.
It is utterly unfit for purpose and never in a million years will it ever be reliable, as for the council just remember IT IS OUR MONEY YOU ARE WASTING with repairs and the nice little earner for Cowes Harbour Commission for the use of the “tug boat”.

I’ve built rafts in the scouts that are more viable as a floating bridge than this.

Drag it down to Smallbrook and let the bikes pull it around the water.

I thought we were promised something different from this Council? Instead it’s the same old fiasco. No matter who we vote in, what they promise, they’re all the same. None of them have a clue. Hand the thing back and sue for our money back and recompense for lost revenue. It’s what anyone in their right mind would do.

Ground hog day. how long are we expected to live with this farce? This expensive farce? Is no-one capable of making a sensible effort to STOP throwing good money, our good money, after bad?

Can I make a radical suggestion?
Can we make the Alliance – who are ‘in charge’ , move their next meeting venue to this embarrassment, then can we haul it out into the Solent and not let it back into port until they have made a sensible decision, which does not include licking anything into the ‘long grass’ and waiting for mediation or any other delay in giving we, the tax payers, a reliable alternative.

they can pontificate about liability and recompense, compensation and such until the cows come home, but right now, today, we are totally FED UP with this ongoing excuse for a service.
