Gritters are to be deployed across the Isle of Wight during the early hours of tomorrow morning (Friday) due to a predicted overnight frost.
Island Roads says that the fleet of gritters will leave the Stag Lane depot from 02:30, treating all the usual routes plus bridge decks at Stag Lane and Foxes Road.
Motorists are being reminded to drive according to the weather conditions.
Tomorrow is expected to be another cold day with sunny spells at first, but the cloud will soon develop bringing some scattered showers of rain, hail and sleet. It will still feel cold but perhaps a little less so than today. Temperatures will be around 7-8c in a fresh northerly breeze, with a widespread frost on Friday night.
Looking ahead to the weekend… it will be cold and bright with the risk of showers during the afternoons, especially on Sunday. The showers will be of rain, hail or sleet, perhaps even a little snow mixed in here and there with temperatures dropping to 2-3c at times. Frosty nights are still likely across the Isle of Wight.

If motorists need reminding then they shouldn’t be driving anyway.
Drive according to the road conditions! Drivers don’t slow down over here for anything, that’s why there are so many accidents.
