Councillor Claire Critchinson has been appointed the new Cabinet member for Children’s Services and Education on the Isle of Wight, following the resignation of Councillor Jonathan Bacon last month.
It was less than an hour before a crunch meeting on the future of 5 Isle of Wight primary schools on 20th March that Councillor Bacon stepped down from his role as Cabinet member for education. He later said that the decision to resign was because ‘political needs were being put first and the interests of children last’.
Now, just 2 weeks later, it has been confirmed that Councillor Critchinson is to step into his shoes.
Leader of the Isle of Wight Council, Phil Jordan, has made an executive decision which will see Cllr Critchinson take the lead on children’s services and education. She will also chair the Corporate Parenting Board and attend both the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership Board and the Isle of Wight Cultural Education Partnership.
Claire, a Green Party representative for the Chale, Niton and Shorwell ward, hasn’t had much involvement with education on the Isle of Wight, but has been vocal about supporting Isle of Wight farmers and other rural concerns.
However, the role will only be a very temporary one as the Council is set to swap a Cabinet-led structure with a Committee system with effect from the annual council meeting in May.
So Jerk Jordan has chosen someone who will just agree with him, someone who knows nothing about the education system, what a great move. Jordan just bloody go will you.
Another waste of tax payers money.
Sack the lot of them and bring in devolution
less people to pay!
1 mayor and a few hanger’oners is what’s needed
The country cannot afford to keep paying their
excessive salaries and pensions
NO WONDER OUR COUNCIL TAX KEEPS GOING UP!
Jordan really has no idea what he is doing h he needs to resign and let someone that has a brain do the job.
