The current landlords of The Castle Inn in Newport are preparing to call time on their tenure at the High Street pub, with Simon and Louise set to leave later this month.
The pair will depart The Castle on Saturday (19th September), but the pub itself will continue under new landlords.
Simon and Louise will mark their final night at the popular Newport watering hole with an event getting underway from 20:00.
Live music from Bittersweet will feature during the evening, alongside drinks promotions including pints and a spirit and mixer for £3, doubles with a mixer for £4 and shots for £1.
Announcing their departure, Simon and Louise have said:
“Although it’s the end of an era for us, it’s definitely not the end of The Castle.
“We genuinely wish the new landlords every bit of luck and success and hope everyone gives them the same support, laughs and loyalty that you’ve shown us over the years.
“The Castle has always been more than just four walls and a bar – it’s the people who walk through the door that make it what it is.

The change of landlords comes after The Castle closed its kitchen indefinitely on ,27th July, citing family health commitments and ongoing cost of living pressures facing small businesses.
The venue was also handed a 1-star food hygiene rating following an inspection in June.
Way back in the mid1960s, we Carisbrooke Grammar 6th formers always tried to drink the Castle dry, on numerous occasions!! It was easier to pass our A-levels! In those days the Castle staff obviously turned a blind eye to our under-age status, something I’m sure is no longer tolerated!!

I am looking a few months ahead, once the October budget comes along, that will be the final nail in the business.
I’ve never really liked the layout in the pub. It looks like it used to be made up of several small rooms & has been knocked through to make it open plan but in Winter it can be very draughty & when you get the loud opinionated regulars drinking at the bar it kills the atmosphere & any conversation. It has a lot of potential but needs a rethink
