In a candid admission of past shortcomings, Evri, the UK-based parcel delivery firm, has openly acknowledged the issues that have plagued its reputation. As the holiday season of 2024 approaches, the company is determined to turn a new leaf, promising significant improvements in customer service and delivery reliability. With a substantial investment of £40 million aimed at enhancing its operations, including the implementation of advanced Evri tracking solutions, the company is taking definitive steps to restore trust and ensure a smoother experience for its users.
Acknowledging the Past
Evri’s journey to redemption begins with an honest reflection on its past. The company, which faced severe criticism last Christmas due to delayed or undelivered packages, admits it has “earned” its poor reputation. Chris Ashworth, Evri’s chief customer officer, recently addressed these issues on BBC Breakfast, highlighting the unprecedented challenges faced last year. The unexpected Royal Mail strike, announced just eight weeks before Christmas, created a logistical nightmare, exacerbating Evri’s operational difficulties. “It takes 12 to 18 months of meticulous planning to scale up an operation for the Christmas season,” said Ashworth. “Last year, mistakes were made due to the sudden need to double our capacity in a very short time.”
Investment in Infrastructure
In response to last year’s failures, Evri has committed £40 million to improve its services this festive season. This investment focuses on several key areas: expanding the workforce, enhancing customer service, and leveraging technology to streamline operations. The company has hired 6,500 additional staff, primarily focusing on the “final mile” of delivery – the crucial last leg of the journey where packages reach the customers’ doors. Moreover, Evri has doubled the number of its UK-based customer service representatives and introduced 24/7 phone lines and chatbots. These enhancements aim to provide immediate assistance and resolve issues swiftly, addressing one of the primary complaints from customers – the difficulty of contacting Evri when problems arise.
Leveraging Technology
A significant portion of Evri’s investment is directed towards integrating advanced technology into its operations. Third-party tracking service Ordertracker has introduced an AI-powered tracking solution, which offers live tracking on Evri packages and uses artificial intelligence to predict delivery dates accurately. This technology not only enhances transparency but also provides customers with real-time updates, thereby reducing anxiety and uncertainty about their deliveries. “With our new tracking system, customers can monitor their parcels in real-time and receive accurate delivery predictions,” Ashworth explained. “This level of visibility is crucial in building trust and ensuring a seamless delivery experience.”
Customer Feedback and Improvement
Despite these improvements, Evri remains vigilant in addressing ongoing concerns. The company has been at the bottom of customer satisfaction surveys conducted by Citizens Advice in 2021 and 2022, and joint bottom with Yodel in 2023. These surveys highlighted persistent issues with delivery problems and customer service. In response to these rankings, Evri has made concerted efforts to understand and act on customer feedback. The introduction of a new phone service in October 2023, for instance, was a direct result of feedback indicating that customers found it difficult to contact the company. According to Ofcom’s latest Post Monitoring Report, 46% of those surveyed were dissatisfied with their ability to contact Evri, though the new phone service aims to address this issue comprehensively. “It is no longer difficult to get hold of us,” Ashworth emphasized. “We use automation to ensure customers don’t have to wait long for responses. A customer can leave a message, and we will investigate and get back to them promptly.”
The Path Forward
Evri’s strategy to rebuild trust hinges on its commitment to transparency, customer service, and technological innovation. By investing heavily in its infrastructure and workforce, the company aims to prevent a repeat of last year’s holiday season fiasco. The AI-powered tracking solution is a cornerstone of this strategy, providing customers with the assurance that their packages are being monitored and will arrive on time. However, challenges remain. Some customers still report inconsistent service levels across different regions, and despite the improvements, there are occasional lapses. Ashworth acknowledges these issues but insists that the company is dedicated to continuous improvement. “We aren’t perfect, and we do get the odd thing wrong,” he admitted. “But consistent localised problems are not something we recognise. I’d urge any customers experiencing these issues to contact us directly. We are now very easy to contact and eager to resolve any problems.”
Building a Better Future
Evri’s efforts to transform its operations and restore customer trust are ongoing. The company’s significant financial investment and strategic enhancements reflect a genuine commitment to change. As the holiday season of 2024 approaches, Evri’s ability to deliver on its promises will be closely watched by both customers and industry observers. By addressing past mistakes and leveraging new technologies, Evri aims to build a more reliable and customer-centric delivery service. The road to redemption may be challenging, but with continued dedication and transparency, Evri hopes to emerge as a trusted partner for parcel delivery in the UK.

Take his licence away and burn it. Take his car away and crush it. Make the little blighter walk or get the bus.
He should get 25 years for attempted murder.
Same goes for all the others in the car too, they knew full well they were getting into a car when the driver was unfit to drive, they need to take some responsibility for this, not that anyone takes responsibility for their own actions any more.
How tf has he done that corner sideways, you islanders are mental.
Is that all you have to say? no thought at all for the very serious injuries sustained.
The extra in D in his name obviously is not a extra as in brain cell, compassion or commen sense just D=dummy and a baby’s dummy at that!.
How do you know he is a islander might be a little s*** from North Island
Text mentions the scrote is from Newport.
Drugs and lack of driving skills at a mere 17 you bell e
Most island lads at 17 aren’t fortunate enough to own a car or even pass their test.
For this lad to be able to do it and then flout the law makes a mockery to others.
His defence will say he needs a car for work and it’s his first offence, they’ll say he’s young and learnt his lesson, so he’ll get off lightly.
Once they name him you can pretty well guarantee that you’ll be reading his name again in the coming years for driving offences.
Ban for life. Flout that and cut his hands off to keep people safe. Do the same for his defence barrister.
Hope the innocent parties in this crash make a full recovery.
Hopefully mummy and daddy will stop funding his car and insurance and drug use now
Most probably not got insurance like most Island youths.
That were he gets the drug’s and booze….
That would be just mummy, with delinquents like this POS there is never a father on the scene.
Cut the hands off the Defence Barrister. Wow, think about that for a moment.
Without representation, then you will get Justice only for the rich and well spoken. Everyone else will not have access to Justice – we will be in a totalitarian state.
There is no defence for what he has done. The defence team will get him a lighter sentence so he can do it again.
For example, if I set fire to a house where a family perished then I should be locked up for life to stop me doing it again. But a defence barrister can stand up in court and say he’s young, didn’t know what he was doing and he’s got certain mental health issues, say I had a poor start in life, poor schooling and upbringing, and get me leniency.
How would you feel if I went straight out of court and set fire to a house belonging to a relative of yours.?
Would you lay any blame with the defence barrister for helping me get off.?
Defence should be held accountable for any future crimes.
There is no defence for crime

And next it will be a fatality…. wishing the poor man a good recovery. As for the little sh-t, string him up by his b-lls, all supposing his got any. High time Donna Jones and her pals started taking notice of drug/drink driving. How about a long long sentence of hard labour in ball and chains on Dartmoor when caught.
Island roads are unsafe due to idiot motorists
Motorists will not change their ways, so it is about time the
Council done something about it.
Place more speed humps etc, place boulders or concrete pots etc to
Slow people down.
More speed cameras etc are required and increase the driving age.
17 is too young to be on the road.
Speeding kills
Speed bumps boulders or concrete pots.? We don’t need those, we have pot holes.!
You do make a valid point though regarding age.
17 is young to be driving, although our generation all managed it okay.
Should the age be raised to 21.?
it’s the shit that’s driving that is the problem..hell f all and carry on..
I agree with 17 being too young . when they pass their test they THINK they know it all . with no proper traffic experiance. I feel so sorry for the Lady and Gentleman who are suffering caused by an idiot on drugs .
Drug drivers are the issue at the moment, stand by the side of any road for more than 10 minutes & the pong hits you. Police need to increase random checks massively, they would catch loads making it safer tor all. Wishing a quick recovery for the innocent victims.
More dragged up scumbags will be along very soon, on this pathetic lawless island…..Why don’t they police our island roads properly…
I pushed this myself.Right up to councillor (lol) and commons stage (lolx2) to deal with these low intelligence lifeforms assailing the summer peace with their chav-chariots and amplified exhaust systems gunning said machines with gay abandon.Obvious waste of time.(Still they come),still the rozzers stay station-bound.
A few disincentivising speed-bumps doesn’t seem a big ask alongside the new developments along Ryde Esplanade for instance ?…take away the aggressive accelerations maybe to their exhaust explosive pursuits (what’s that all about, isn’t it illegal) ? but nothing was installed in a location now experiencing poor quality street-lighting and ever larger pedestrian volumes. Not ideal.
A white Vauxhall Corsa, what a surprise!
Too many boy racers around nowadays, enjoying their noisy exhausts with pointless pops and bangs. Island roads aren’t suited to any sort of fast driving, and especially by these inexperienced young idiots.
More traffic cops needed.
Plenty of places to drive fast, once you know how to control your car and what the effect on handling is when you have 3 adults in the back. Utter f’wit lost it going into the bend too fast- it’s clear as day from the pictures above. Get him banned interim for the DD and let him sweat it out for the charge of serious injury by careless /dangerous driving. he can sh** himself in the knowldge that that offence carries a maximum of 5 years inside. My heart bleeeds NOT.
Thought with the injured and their families.. Thank you to the emergency services for all they do. I hope insurance company ensures that all the modifications to the vehicle have been listed /declared, if the driver is on someone else’s insurance better get ready to pay up big time. Hope he is made an example of which may deter others from following his example.
They exist apparently but in a station bound troglodyte fashion.
Why oh why isn’t it that piece of scum in hospital fighting for it’s pathetic life, and do us all a favour and not pull through.
No doubt the punishment will be a few months ban, a few points on it’s licence (If it has one), and fined a few quid, while it’s victim at best may suffer life long complications as a result.
Prayers and thoughts to the poor man, also his family and friends who must be suffering horrific anguish.
A 17-year-old boy is a man if he is old enough to have a driving license or get married. Through Ancestry, I’ve recently found many Islanders lied about their age during WW1 when they made out they were 16; they were only 14 when they fought on the front line. My dad left school at 14; he was seen as a man.
Referring to someone as a boy implies, “Oh, poor little Bobbie, he didn’t know what he was doing.”
The defence barrister will probably say in his address, “He made a mistake taking drugs but was coerced by his chavvy friends.” “He is a good boy, but he recently got into the wrong crowd, which caused him to make wrong decisions and which impacted his mental health.” “He is sorry for what he has done and the impact on others.”
WW3 is around the corner, send these juveniles to War
they think they are tough
Bloody good idea but ,,, I bet they get a letter from their mum saying he/she is not well enough to go to war today ,,,,,, to drugged up
We don’t/not allowed in this country for the courts to ‘make an example’ of someone in sentencing. Mores the pity.
If this piece of sh** is sentenced to the maximum of 5 years inside ( causing serious injury trhrough careless/dangerous driving), That would send out a clear messgae to all the scrotes….
That’s the nation we are forced to live in now, far left snowflake ideology…..There’s not a real man among them…
Wonder if its the same white Corsa that’s been driving at speed through Newport recently?
Police need to be out and about in the evening when there are racing around.
New Barratt hives in NPT, spawning these invasive species?
Cambridge Don? And I am Einstein’s 2nd cousin… And abbreviation of Newport too NPT gives away your age I bet you still text “lol”!?.
Judging by the pictures he seems to have taken a wide line on a blind bend. Oncoming car had no chance to react. The poor injured couple are not out of the woods yet. I hope not but this could still turn in to a case of death by dangerous driving. Throw away the key.
Nasty piece of low life shit he better be properly convicted..but we know he won’t utter scum..
This needs a change in the law ti give lifetime driving bans on conviction for serious offences. Driving isn’t a right, and a licence can be revoked.
Anyone tell me how intent is proven? ‘Yes your Honour, I deliberately drove too fast on a bend expressly to kill or injure someone.’
No? In which case the facts remain that he was an inexperienced (we’ve all been one) driver driving a car designed by previous generations to have (proudly) a top speed in excess of 100mph, knowing the max speed everywhere is 70 and to prove his ‘manhood’ he says ‘hey fellas, look at my control…oops’.
Is he remorseful? Probably, none of us know. Was he on drugs, possibly, none of us know. Would he wilfully and with INTENT do it again, most likely not.
IF he ever does, the book will be thrown at him legally. This time, maybe not. Because we all deserve defence and representation.
I think you need to re examine your logic. Try fitting Reckless, knowing the consequences of their actions.they chose to ignore them. Cars out of control are lethal weapons.
It’s logic and reason which drives our legal system. It’s fairness (like it or not) which says all deserve a defence when accused. Legally it’s incredibly hard to prove intent, therefore they’ll take into account his age, experience etc when sentencing. Calling for the hands of the defence lawyer/barrister to be cut off is disgusting because people are vengeful is wrong. Until a defence is offered and either accepted or rejected NOBODY knows if he sneezed, his foot fell off the brake onto the accelerator etc etc, so the constant calls to string him up etc puts us back in the dark ages legally. This is why insurances for the younger drivers are heavily loaded…they don’t have the experience and don’t understand the consequences. Yet.
Give the perps of such disgusting driving a special tax code so they pay into a victims fund for the rest of their lives!
I agree with that statement but they’ll probably be on Benefits, so WE – the hard working, respectable and respectful drivers and taxpayers will be paying his taxes anyway.
They do, it’s called an insurance hike (benefits not relevant then) and a part of that money goes into a criminal injuries fund for victims.
Do you really believe the scrotes care about insurance…….
Sounds good but bet they haven’t got a job ,claiming all the benefits ,didn’t know they gave away a driving benifit I must of missed that one
A whole night to find the Dick took the corner too fast.
Where did the other 6 people come from??? Doesn’t really say about them
Good question. Were there passengers in the pensioners’ car or was the scrote’s car overloaded?
Firstly, hope all those innocent parties involved are ok.
Now, we live on a road that is a 30 limit?! Over the last few years myself and our neighbours have been increasingly concerned about boy racers using our road as a personal racetrack.
With multiple calls and information passed over to the police, have they done anything about it?! No, sweet sod all. They turn up to these RTA’s, but do sod all to help prevent them!!
The driver nearly took me out in Ryde two weeks ago, reported him. Nothing was done, now we have this. Will the investigation include too see if the police were warned of his driving??? I bet not.
Nope …..they wont
Even if he had insurance, won’t that be void as they will say he was on drugs ,so they might not pay out.
So it that’s the case he should be made to pay for everything himsel for the rest of his life or his parents should if he can’t afford to.,even if it means they have to sell they house to do so.
This will make them take more responsibility when they go out and buy cars for them
Anyone who is caught drug or drink driving if not sent to prison should be forced to do community pay back aswell as a driving ban.
So the little sh** has been bailed. Should have locked him up immediately and be banned from driving for life. I really hope the couple in the other car recover.
Cut his feet off so he wont drive again. The little S–T. This could have been anyone of us just driving home or to work, just to be injured by a little S–T like this. Hope he gets all the punishment he deservers.
Having lived in a big city all my life I felt quite safe crossing roads or driving. The IOW is something else. I feel like I’m taking my life in my hands. It’s terrifying seeing some of the antics drivers get up to. That poor couple though. I really hope they make a full recovery but it’s difficult as you age. You don’t bounce back like you used to.
