A new free programme designed to support children’s emotional wellbeing is being rolled out across the Isle of Wight, offering families practical tools to manage stress, anxiety and overwhelm.
The initiative, known as Tap into Calm™, has been developed by local practice Preziosa Therapia and was originally created as a structured group intervention for use within schools.
In response to growing demand within the community, the programme has now been adapted into a family-based pilot, allowing parents and carers to take part alongside their children.
Funded by Isle of Wight Council, the scheme is open to children aged between 8 and 15 and aims to provide early support and preventative strategies in a safe and accessible environment.
The programme incorporates a range of gentle, evidence-informed techniques, including Emotional Freedom Techniques – also known as tapping – alongside breathwork and mindfulness. These approaches are designed to help young people regulate their emotions, build resilience and feel more in control.
Louise Rippon, founder of Preziosa Therapia and an EFT International Accredited Practitioner, has said:
“Tap into Calm™ was developed as a group programme to support young people within schools, where we’re seeing increasing levels of anxiety, overwhelm, and emotional dysregulation.
“We’re seeing a real need locally, and this programme is about early intervention, connection, and empowering families with simple, practical strategies they can use every day.”
What makes this programme different:
- Originally designed as a school-based group intervention
- Adapted for families to attend together, strengthening impact at home
- Focused on early intervention and prevention
- Provides practical tools rather than clinical therapy
The programme offers a supportive small-group environment where families can learn techniques to reduce stress and anxiety, improve emotional awareness and communication, and develop skills that can continue to be used at home.
Each programme runs over 6 sessions lasting approximately 1.5 hours. Places are limited and early booking is encouraged.

Free lessons in managing ‘stress and ‘overwhelm’?’
Sign me up. I am suffering all the above while trying to fund my council tax. Oh, wait a minute, it’s not free. Guess who’s paying for this indulgence? That’s right, you and me through our council taxes. ‘Preziosa’ is Italian for ‘precious’ and it certainly is…for the inventor of this vital service…
