Students at Forest Edge School in Sandown are preparing to launch a half-term fundraising initiative, with handmade products going on sale across the Isle of Wight to raise money for Mountbatten Hospice.
Forest Edge School is an independent specialist education provider for children aged 11-14 with severe or complex needs linked to life trauma, Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), attachment disorder and phobias surrounding education.
As part of a recent enterprise project, each year group was given a £20 budget to create products to sell for profit.
The school has partnered with several Isle of Wight businesses, which have donated shelf space for students to display and sell their handmade items during the upcoming May half-term break.
All profits raised will be donated to Mountbatten Hospice.
Students will begin setting up displays on 21st and 22nd May, with products remaining on sale throughout half term until Monday 1st June. All items will be priced at £1 each.
Businesses supporting the initiative include All in One in Shanklin, IOW Traders’ in Newport , Holliers Tunnel in Branstone and Ztam & Co in Ryde .
The school is encouraging Islanders to support the students’ efforts by visiting the participating businesses during the half term week.
