Fog is causing travel disruption for the second day running with Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry service completely suspended due to the adverse conditions.
The cross-Solent operator has confirmed that the service between Southampton and East Cowes has been suspended until further notice as a result of reduced visibility.

Neither Wightlink or Hovertravel are reporting any delays or cancellations this morning, but this could change.
A yellow weather warning for fog is in place from IW Met Service until 13:00 this afternoon.
UPDATE @ 08:10 – Red Funnel’s ferry service has resumed but passengers can expected delays throughout the morning.

Are red funnel just using the fog as an excuse? All the other ferry firms seem to be coping fine lol
Bridge,Tunnel.the sooner the better.
When I worked at sea, we had radar and would proceed with caution. What’s up with the ferrys, are they lacking seamanship and equipment. Good job the Royal Navy are made of the right stuff!
Well, first off, Red Funnel only hire seaman who are Filipino (this can create language barrier issues, especially when operating at sea). Secondly, have you ever heard of ‘model manning’? For every sailor on a merchant ship there’s about a hundred RN sailors on an RN ship. Hope that helps answer that question.
It’s not red funnel, it’s cowes harbour commission, they won’t let the boats in the harbour at cowes.
