Overnight flooding due to persistent rain has caused Island Line to suspend train services between Shanklin and Ryde Esplanade this morning (Sunday).
It comes after reports were made of heavy rain on the track at Smallbrook as a result of heavy rain throughout yesterday and overnight.
Island Line has estimated that disruption will continue until around 15:00 when they hope the flooding will clear.
Rail replacement buses will be in use, however 1 Island Echo reader has said that as of the moment, tickets aren’t being accepted on Southern Vectis buses.
Island Line apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Well they have plenty of time to ‘apologise’ given that the trains never run anyway.
“given that the trains never run anyway.”
You on drugs??? They run most of the time, the most reliable network in the UK.
Surely it would be much easier for the media to advise when the trains, boats, hovers, buses etc were actually operating, rather than when they are not.
When they spent ten months replacing the track and signals they also claimed that they were doing extensive work to prevent flooding along the line.
Just WAIT until all the extra water run off from the Penny-Feather huge development runs all the roof, drives and road water into the small brook river.
The flooding will be intense, but as we know, ONLY Bembridge coincidently the home of the main developers aka ruination family live there, so the ‘perceived’ flooding issue there was then ‘enough’ to cancel much building development. All coincidental of course.
Go away mate, the cost was on rolling stock and limited track work most of the funding went into Brading station and please remember this railway is now a first group MTR share holder run business so they can do what they want when they want. The location of it is irrelevant and that is why a fixed ink is the only answer
You would have thought that when they were upgrading the line recently…Oh, what’s the point.
Perhaps it would have been wiser to create a Canal, for transport, or as oft suggested tarmac the lot and run electric shuttle buses which would not be effected as internal battery powered.
Oh well another excuse , wonder if they actually have a full compliment of staff for a change !!!!!!!
Transport really should be a priority….
HALF A SAUSAGE AND COUNCIL AND SOUTHERN WATER ….
ALL should be responsible…..
Ooh not to mention when all the unnecessary building goes ahead ….
Will we be like a 3rd world country with buckets down a well or in the cattle field’s ( in summer) ??????….
Probably better to build more water storage reservoirs….
Still good news we can use our hosepipe again !!!!!!
Wrong type of rain, this was the wet kind.
All the people attacking the train network for not dealing with flooding are the same crowd that would happily tell you global warming is a myth. Can’t have your cake and eat it. Either they did not deal with rising water levels and more rain because of global warming or there is no global warming and they train company did not need to do anything. If you think they should have raised the track because of flooding then you must also admit that the sea level is rising and that the rain is more frequent and heavier.
Beep beep beep I’m milking it niw
As i have said before we do not need a train, convert the track to cycling and walking.
The percentage of population must be tiny that actually use it.
