A flood warning is in place for the Langbridge and Alverstone areas today (Monday), with a flood alert also in force for the Eastern Yar.
The Environment Agency says that water levels in the Eastern Yar remain high but they are now slowly falling, but there will be a continuation of out of bank flooding affecting land, gardens, cycle tracks and roads.
At Alverstone, water levels are still close to the top of the river bank. Further showers are expected today so while levels are currently falling, they will rise a little this afternoon and evening. With more rain forecast for this week, minor flood impacts are expected until Friday.
A lesser flood alert is in place for the Eastern Yar between Whitwell and Bembridge. At Sandown, the river will cause some minor impact flooding at Golf Links and Moreton Common Road. Ditches at Fort Holiday Park may also cause flooding to land as they are unable to drain to the river.
Locals are being urged to ensure pumps used to protect property are operational.
