The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were altered to a small fire in Freshwater this evening (Saturday).
Firefighters from Freshwater Fire Station were called to some woodland, where it is said youngsters had lit a fire, which potentially could have spread to the nearby surroundings.
The fire was extinguished by the retained crew, following advice to the youngsters about the potential dangers this could cause.
A spokesperson from Friends of Freshwater Fire Station said:
It goes without saying that lighting fires in public woodland and other outdoor public areas is a big no no!
