Firefighters have been mobilised to a block of flats in Oakfield, Ryde this evening (Friday).
2 appliances from nearby Ryde Fire Station and 1 from Sandown are on scene at Alexandra Road, with the Incident Command Unit from Newport also en-route.
Crews have donned breathing apparatus and have readied a hose reel jet but have not been required to enter the building.
Residents have evacuated the property.
There are currently no signs of fire but a thermal imaging camera is being used with firefighters remaining on standby to fight any fire.
Alexandra Road has been closed for a short distance at Gassiot Green, with a small diversion in place for light traffic.
UPDATE – The incident has now drawn to a close with all crews stood down.
