Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has been mobilised to a property in Ryde this evening (Tuesday).
2 fire appliances are said to be on scene at Pellhurst Road, near to zebra crossing by Pell Lane, having been alerted at around 17:30.
Island Echo understands crews are in attendance at a residential address.
UPDATE @ 18:30 – Hampshire Fire Control has confirmed that a microwave fire within a kitchen was to blame for the alert, however, it was extinguished prior to the first crew’s arrival.
Firefighters entered the residential address to remove the damaged appliance and used positive pressure ventilation (PPV) to rid the property of smoke.
The homeowner of the address was given emergency care by the crews before being left with a family member.
Crews used the opportunity to speak to neighbouring homes to discuss fire safety and make sure they had working smoke alarms before standing down from the incident around an hour after the initial call.
