A cyclist was injured after they came off their bike on the main road between Wootton and Binstead yesterday (Sunday).
The incident occurred just after 11:15 at Elenors Grove between Kite Hill and Quarr Hill, just before the entrance to the abbey.
Among those first on the scene were firefighters from Ryde, who helped to stabilise the situation, providing the initial care.
In a statement released, The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said:
“The cyclist suffered a number of injuries after coming off their bike.”

Why would they send a fire engine to some poor person who ate gravel.
You need some sort of brain scan
It’s a straightforward enough question. What’s the matter with you.
Cut Backs with the NHS, saves sending an ambulance .
it does seem a bit bizare.. unless the fire engine just happend to be passing…
Its most likely due to not having enough ambulances
This is a possibility as when I needed one last week. I waited 50 minutes for a Ryde taxi funded by the ambulance service.
Well if you could go in a taxi you clearly didn’t need an ambulance. Maybe think twice before calling next time. Ambulances are for life-threatening emergencies
Perhaps there wasn’t an ambulance available at the time and firefighters have more under their belt than fighting fires…seem to remember a few years back some lovely people
have died in a bicycle accident !
Trained first responders. You might be grateful to them if you ever suffer a medical episode.
They send a fire engine if there isn’t enough ambulances
Most likely an electric bike.
Their bike?? What happened to his bike (or her bike)?
Wokism and personal pronouns is what happend.
What a despicable comment from an obvious brain dead troll. Trying to get a laugh out of this person’s demise makes you the lowest of the lowest. Hope the cyclist makes a speedy recovery.
Maybe they needed to be cut free from their lycra?
lol, well done.
