Red Funnel has cancelled 2 sailings today (Friday) and 2 tomorrow (Saturday) as a result of engine troubles.
As a result, the 19:30 from Southampton and 21:00 from East Cowes have been cancelled.
The cross-Solent operator has also announced that tomorrow’s (Saturday) 04:30 vehicle ferry sailing from Southampton and the 06:00 from East Cowes will be cancelled too.
The reason for the repairs is an issue with the aft main engine on Red Falcon – which is currently moored up and out of action.
Red Funnel apologises for any inconvenience caused by this.
I hope that no one has been forced to go over for a hospital appointment only to find they can’t get to it! It’s US who get penalised for a ‘no show’, NOT Red Funnel (or Wight Link). Being forced to go to the mainland for routine appointments or more serious treatment will cause untold damage to folks health if we get another season of cancellations from either company. I see trouble ahead for us all.
Need to replace your maintenance staff with the amount of problems you keep coming up with.
Or, is it the ferry isn’t full and you just don’t want to run it half empty….I think so.
These excuses have worn a bit thin now, we are not all so gullible here that we cant work out what’s going on.
Build a bridge and shut the lot down.

p poor service and ferries are scruffy and
cold they need a good upgrade

Ahhh the least busy (profitable) ones cancelled – again. Funny, that.
I hope they send red falcon down next for its annual maintenance as it’s been a crock of shit all last year with engine trouble send it to Falmouth and change this troublesome engine out it’s not fair in the commuters and drivers to keep having this ferry out of service
