An unconscious sailor has been rushed ashore at Cowes and conveyed to hospital this evening (Thursday).
Cowes RNLI Lifeboat was launched at around 20:00 following reports of an individual being transported to a port of safety and requiring urgent assistance.
The vessel that declared the emergency was escorted to Trinity Landing in Cowes, where Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and RNLI shore crew were waiting to help transfer the casualty to an awaiting ambulance.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has since conveyed the girl to St Mary’s Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
HM Coastguard has now stood down assets on the ground.
Meanwhile, in Newport, Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 175 has been involved in the transfer of a seriously ill patient from St Mary’s Hospital to Southampton General Hospital.
