A vulnerable missing person was safely located following a large scale search of the Gunville area during the early hours of this morning (Monday).
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Redhill was drafted in to assist in the search, which focused on the Gunville area of Newport.
Police on the ground rendezvoused at Home Bargains and from there spread out in a bid to locate the individual.
WightSAR – the Island’s volunteer search and rescue team – were deployed to assist Hampshire Constabulary in the search.
It has been confirmed that the missing person – understood to be a young teenage boy – was safely located shortly before 03:00.
